hatching
This technique is used when shading is
desired or to make a subtle transition from
one color area to another.
It is woven with wefts traveling in opposite
directions, alternating long and short passes.
Turning points can vary with each pass or
remain constant.
vertical stripes
These are narrow, vertical stripes that are
created by weaving one color across and
then, on the next pass, weaving another
color, alternating your sheds.
To get a smoother edge, start the colors on
the same side.

shuttles to manage
the multiple colors in
tapestry weaving.
