It’s Time to Clean Up Your Herd Records

As we get ready for show season and prepare for AOA’s transition to a new registration system in 2026, now is the perfect time to review and update your herd records. Keeping your database current helps protect the integrity of the national registry and ensures a smooth experience for you throughout the year.

Here’s what to take care of:

Update animal status

Mark any alpacas that are deceased or sold without transfer so your herd list stays accurate.

Complete pending transfers and authorizations

Take a moment to finish any items waiting for your approval. These small steps help prevent delays during show season or when handling future paperwork.

Finalize all registrations

If you have registrations in progress, now is the time to complete them. This is especially important for anyone planning to show in 2026—finishing registrations early gives you time to resolve issues without feeling rushed.

Why this matters now

AOA is moving to a new registry system in 2026, and in-progress registrations and transfers will not carry over. Completing your work ahead of the transition ensures your herd records remain accurate and up to date in the new system.

If you need assistance or have questions, our team is here to help. Thank you for taking the time to update your records and support the long-term strength of the national registry.
